A new working paper entitled "How Many Competitiors are Enough to Ensure Competition?-A Note on Number Effects in Oligopolies" assisted by Prof. Dr. Jan Krämer is now available for download (http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2535862). The meta study shows that experimental studies on oligopoly markets could not state any reduction in the intensity of competition when reducing the number of competitors from 4 to 3 firms. Therefore, the results are particularily relevant in the context of the consolidation of telecommunications markets from often 4 to 3 competitors (e.g. after the merger between E-Plus and O2).
