Is the Digital Markets Act (DMA) a game changer for the platform economy in Europe? Professor Krämer discussed this and related questions with some of the key architects of the DMA, Andreas Schwab (MEP, Rapporteur of the European Parliament for the DMA) and Mathieu Weill (French Ministry of Economic Affairs), as well as with Robin Schlinkert (DuckDuckGo) at Politico’s AI and Tech Summit in Brussels, moderated by Samuel Stolton (Politico technology reporter). On interoperability, following criticism from Professor Krämer, Mr. Schwab said that: "It's true that interoperability is not the basic nature of the DMA, because it's about contestability of markets…but in the specific area of messenger services, there has been a strong political push for interoperability to become part of that contestability..it's only directed to gatekeepers.“
